reccomended gearing

Postby jr drag dad » Sun Jun 18, 2017 10:13 pm

What do you guys like to run for gearing on a car meant for the 11.90 class with a mild engine ? I know you can get different ratios by going up or down on the front gear or going up or down on the rear..... Do you think a 13 front would be better than a 12 front as far as the chain not being turned so sharp?

With any mild motor you can put just about any gear ratio from 4:1 to 8:1 and still accomplish the 11.90 goal, it just depends on how you want to get there. We've ran both ends of the spectrum with success . I have set ups different for different drivers. A lower gear will go e you a quicker 60 ft time a day should help with reaction times.

When using a 206 we ran a low 6:46, and with the Terminator a 7:0. Both were an 84 rear, but a 12 and 13 drive sprocket.

We run a small bore Terminator, sleeved 33mm and 7.13:1 gear. Danny's last 2 lights were .000 and .011 - staging deep.
