Lo206 with shockwave belt squeal

Postby 03 busa » Sun Oct 01, 2017 8:49 pm

Getting ready for another driver and trying to figure out what is going on with this belt squeal. I have loosened up the belt to where it just spins over the secondary with ease and it still squeals when on the brake at idle. I have utilized the clutch alignment tool, so no issues with this. New to this 206 stuff and non od clutch. I am just trying to see if anyone else has had any issues with this.

Refresh my memory on how to set air gap. Do I need a wider belt?

Pretty sure you would want a narrower belt.

Are you sure you're not using an OD sized belt on a non OD clutch? IIRC the OD uses a 7/8" belt and the Non OD uses a 3/4"
belt.

Belt measures.740 after throwing little rubber pieces all over the place.

Place the belt in the primary and slide it to one side. With the moveable sheave compressed as far as it will go towards the fixed sheave, you should have .040-.060 air gap. Use a set of feeler gauges to measure. Air gap is the distance between the belt and the sheave.
.040-.060 is a rough estimate, some people run more or less. And a lot depends on if you run a polar vs. shockwave. I run .060 on a Shockwave non-overdrive with a .750 belt.
