Cam for 3 1/2 rhino

Postby aray347 » Mon Oct 30, 2017 5:33 pm

Currently running a dyno 127 cam in a 3 1/2 rhino and thinking about going bigger when we rebuild it this year. Is there much to be gained with a bigger cam in this size motor?

It may depend on the port and valve size but I do know my 3 1/2 ZR 4 motor has a 129 cam in it and it really runs well.

Fwiw, my 3 3/4 ZR 4 has a 128 in it and it also runs well. Lift is the same between the 2 but there is less duration @ .050 with the 128 then the 129.

What are you looking to gain? Do you need to pick up et, or is there weight in the car as it is? Trying to pick up mph?

A little more mph would be nice. Im replacing the cam anyway because i bought the motor used and dont know how many runs are on it. Just thought if i could get a little more top end i would go bigger.

You can get more top end by retarding the cam, changing your gearing and by properly adjusting the fuel in the carb. All of these can result in more MPH on the top end.
I deserve respect for the things that i DO NOT do.

Isky #39 is an awesome cam & my favorite bar none.

What preferred flatline do these cams prefer? Higher than the 127 I assume?
