Postby Krb119 » Thu Nov 02, 2017 12:11 pm

I have an 11.90 motor that last year was only running at best 12.50 it has a 28mm sleeved down to a 24 mm carb if I put on a 33 mm would that help speed her up a bit

Can you pull the sleeve out of the 28?

My go to carb for 12.90 was the sleeved 33 but never tried running 11.90. I doubt a small motor would like a straight 33mm carb.

Could be other ways to to speed it up if you want to post all the details of your set up.

Who's motor and what size, bore and stroke? If this is an older motor set up back in the 12.90 days you might not get it to 11.90. what is your total combo weight? The 33 mm we're set up to be a better carb not necessarily faster. What RPMs are you turning at the finish? I run a 7.6:1 gear and with OD still only spin 7100 RPMs. We have a stout 60 ft with that, that might help to go to 8:1 or so. The 60 ft times are a big factor in running quicker ET.

What are your 60ft times? Ask the engine builder but IMO 6500 is pretty low. I would say lower gear and or lighter clutch arms and you should gain 60ft et and also gain et.
I run a 33 without sleeve in a McGee built Terminator for 11.90 BUT most guys say you need the sleeve including Chris McGee.
