It’s not needed but definitely has its advantages. With the puke tank the oil is gone and is a pain in the butt to accurately measure how much you’re losing throughout the race or a night.
With an oil Evac system, you don’t lose any oil throughout tonight, whatever it pukes out it puts right back in and is a hell of a lot easier to change the oil
No, we do not use any more or less oil using an evac and we use a single line on both 3.25 and 3.50

Well we did end up going with an EVAC setup and you are correct, super easy oil changes now. drain from bottom, remove filter and add to top. So easy even a child can do it. granted she changed the oil before but she even said it was easier.
